Susan's Farm is a seeking a part-time Care Farming Education Officer to support our adult beneficiaries.
Care Farming has been a big part of our work for over a decade, and we have been delighted to work with a wide range of adults who have benefitted from working on the farm undertaking a variety of farm tasks, building skills, confidence and their health. We have recently been awarded the Social Farms and Gardens Code of Practice which recognises the quality of service we provide.
Our Care Farming activities take place at our main farm at Houghton, our farm at Wallacefield, Armathwaite and at our wetland site at Aglionby on Mondays and Fridays each week. We tailor our activities to suit the group’s requirements within a farming and nature-based curriculum and cater for different needs, following an assessment.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about sharing the benefits of working and learning through the land and can design engaging sessions to suit a variety of needs, using the farm as the basis for this education. We want someone who can inspire this passion in others, so that our sessions have a lasting impact on all those who attend and can affect change. We want this person to be part of our vision for the charity’s growth and reputation for outstanding education.

Susan’s Farm is seeking to appoint additional Trustees, who share the passion and commitment of the Farm in fulfilling its purposes and ambitions. We want to increase the overall number of Trustees and are looking for energetic people with various skills and experience to work alongside our existing trustees. We particularly want to fill our knowledge and skills gaps regarding fundraising, marketing, HR and championing or managing community-based youth work. We are also keen to find out more about alternative skills and experiences you may have to offer.

We are looking for volunteers to feed and check stock in our fields, particularly at Armathwaite but also Houghton. Hay will be fed with a quad bike (training given - over 16's only. Instructions on checking stock will be given. This is to cover staff time off at weekends during the winter. Volunteers may apply for one site or both depending if they have transport.
