Food Market volunteers needed
Are you passionate about organic food? Do you enjoy chatting to people? Do you have, or want to gain experience in a face-to-face sales / food environment? Then join our volunteer Food Markets Team!
Our fantastic food market volunteers run a stall selling Susan’s Farm organic beef and lamb, and other local produce at Houghton Farmers’ Market on the third Sunday of every month, and occasionally travel to other markets at Rheged and Hutton-in-the-Forest. All proceeds from sales go towards supporting the charity.
We are currently looking for people to join our Food Markets Team. You don’t need to commit to attending every market - all you need is an interest in organic food and good people skills to engage with our customers. If this sounds like you, please email [email protected] and someone will be in touch.
Care Farming support volunteers needed
We are looking for regular volunteers to work with our Care Farming groups, attended by adults who are neurodivergent, have learning disabilities and mental health issues.
Care Farmers join us twice a week at our site at Houghton to work with our Care Farming Lead to carry out day-to-day farming tasks, explore nature and the outdoors, and enjoy a home cooked lunch together. You can see full details of our Care Farming service here.
Volunteers will work alongside our Care Farming Lead to make sure Care Farmers get the most out of the sessions, by supporting them to take part in farming tasks.
Volunteers at Susan’s Farm
Volunteers are vital to our education work, our farming, our meat sales and our community events. In 2023 Susan’s Farm volunteers’ immense contribution to our work was recognised when they won the King's Award for Voluntary Service.
