A different type of education

Schools work with us as we provide alternative education for those for whom traditional schooling isn't working.

We have regular groups on the farm for young people with additional needs -these could be a need for nurture, issues with behaviour or those struggling with poor mental health. We also offer short term group sessions, spread over 6 weeks, for young people at risk of exclusion due to lack of engagement.

We also provide practical work experience for students studying qualifications in agriculture and animal care. We work closely with the University of Cumbria providing placements for Occupational Health and Teacher Training students.

educational visits  for all

We have over 150 visits a year from primary & secondary schools. We also host some community groups. With qualified teachers on staff, we tailor-make visits to your needs, so you can meet as many learning objectives as possible.

Options include our Field-to-Fork workshops, learning to use cooking equipment safely in our catering kitchen, and including our organic meat, grown on the farm; woodland activities, habitat exploration and pond dipping. Talk to us about what your needs are -we can structure visits to tie in with your curriculum needs.

Groups can cook their lunch, then enjoy eating what they've made or order an organic lunch prepared beforehand - it's hungry work being on the farm!

SUPPORT OUR WORK BY BUYING OUR PRODUCE

By buying our meat you support our charitable activities enabling us to provide a purposeful,

therapeutic learning environment for thousands of people every year..

We sell organic pasture-fed beef and organic lamb all year, as well as organic geese at Christmas, eggs and vegetables on a seasonal basis.

Visit our on-line shop and buy from the comfort of your own home.  You can have orders delivered or you can pick up your meat from the farm, and browse in our small stable shop, which also sells products from other local food producers, such as cheese, honey, apple juice and a range of preserves.
